Any part of your AV system can be treated by this unique system. These include Pre-amps, Amps, Processors, AV Receiver, speaker drivers, caps, tubes and valves, wire and connectors just to name a few.

If some part of your system is still not sounding as you would like, this may help raise it to a better standard. I am having good results with this system on a variety of pieces. We are hearing contempletive, dimensional results. Note: This is not done in a Cryo treatment chamber. It is a method that I have developed which is safe for all components. $150.Selective Silver, Gold Plating.

We are now offering selective precious metal plating for connector pins and sockets, IEC power Inlet connectors, fuse holders, Power Cord, sockets and plugs, certain types of switch contacts and more. Please inquire about other precious metals.Preventative Electrolytic Capacitor Replacement This is important! We are starting to recommend replacement of all electrolytic capacitors as a preventative measure due to the age of some Classic units (ten years or more). Electrolytic capacitors will leak over time and can cause shorts and other problems. Also older caps electrical characteristics (such as ESR) change and this causes a diminution in overall sound quality. Some options are: We can replace all the electrolytics with standard stock capacitors or, we can do a combination of standard stock caps and critical path capacitors with Elna-SII and other audiophile grade caps.Balanced Outputs Upgrade We are now offering Balanced Outputs for Pre-Pros and CD players that only have RCA single-ended analog outputs.

The balanced driver circuitry is wired using 99.9999 pure silver wire and Teflon sleeving, terminating in a pair of male panel-mount XLR connectors with gold pins. Single-ended outputs are retained. I have the new Theatermaster 8800. The unit really is amazing. It is very transparent and open. The surround proccessing is the best I have heard. However, it may be too revealing for my system. I have only had it about two weeks, so I guess it is still breking in.I also have an Anthem AVM-20, and and EAD Ovation. The ANthem definitely provides a lot of bang for the buck, but I think it sounds much more digital, and much less transparent than the 8800.The Ovation is great, but definitely is starting to show its age a little if you ask me.Also, I am not going to keep all three pre/pros, but I am still deciding. I'm also interested in your comparison of the 8800 and the Ovation.

I believe the Ovation/Signature was considered one of the best sounding (for 2 channel) HT preamps around. How does the 8800 sound compared to your Ovation? I'm currently using a Signature 8 (equivalent to the 8000pro) but am itching to upgrade. If only the StudioPro would finally ship.Btw, jjtoma, I think their were more EAD folks here at one time. But when EAD released the upgrades to the Signature and Ovation line, many felt the upgrade to the 8 made 2 channel a little worst (I think it was minimal but do agree it was a downgrade for 2 channel). Then instead of giving us a new product, EAD just made minor changes for the 8000 series. Now the 8800 series comes out with new dacs and a few other features.

But I think many past EAD users have jumped ship. I'm still holding on hoping that the 8800 or studiopro will be as great as their Ovation/Signature line.Andy. I have had the TheaterMaster 8800 for about 3 weeks. Here are some of my observations:1. The surround sound proccessing is the best I have ever heard. It is incredible transparent and the movement of the sound between the speakers in seamless.

It is very natural sounding, and the detials that it picks up in movie soundtracks is amazing. I am hearing a lot of things that are not there on the Ovation.2. The two channel stero is better than the Ovation's. It is far more dynamic and transparent. When doing an A/B comparison (I still have my Ovation), the 8800 wins, but the Ovation considering its age is still a very good performer. However, I am really spoiled in 2 channel music because I have a GRanite Audio 657 CD Player, which in my opinion is the finest piece of equipment I have evr used.3.

The analog bypass does not need a cable, but has RCA jacks on the back of the unit. I haven't listened to this much as my Granite 657 connects directly to my monoblocks and sounds better than going throught the 8800.4. The A/D converters in the unit are much better than what was in the Ovation.

I have a EAD Theatervision DVD player and the analog output of the DVD player through the 8800's A/D converters sounds almost the same as when the 8800 is decoding the digital signal.5. The interface of the 8800 is the same as the Ovation's with a few minor changes, but the new MArantz remote is great once you get used to it.6. I also have an ANthem AVM-20 (which is for sale), and in direct A/B comparisons of the 8800 and the Anthem, the 8800 is superior. Anthem gives you a lot of bang for the buck, but the sound to me is more digital sounding.7. The software needs some work though, as there are still a number of bugs in it. The CinEq function does not work, and shifting between the different soundfileds can be troublesome.

Dolby Dital and DTS work great though. Pro Logic II is OK, it is better than the earlier Pro Logic, but I am still not that impressed. That's it for now, if there is anything else anyone would like to know, I will be glad to give you my take on it. Hi Everybody!!JJtoma emailed me and asked me to provide some experience since i've had my 8800 pro from a while now. I upgraded from an Ovation-8 with TM8000pro software and had the latest firmware release before I upgraded. Here are my initial comments after a few months with the 8800pro.

My comments are as follows:(1) In terms of sonics, the unit is absolutely outstanding and a significant improvement over the Ovation-8. I've listened to a ton of A/V receivers and remain convinced that the EAD folks have it right. Not quite as glitzy as some of the other, pricier units.but sonically can't be beat!!(2) The overall operation has been simplified a bit from the Ovation-8. The manual, for example, is maybe a quarter as long or detailed. Basically, once everything is set.you simply choose your source. If the source is transmitting Dolby Digital EX.the unit locks this automatically.

If the source is transmitting Stereo.you can choose between PLII - Music mode or PLII - Movie mode. Very nice indeed.(3) In terms of video switching operation.I'm not the person to discuss this. I use a dedicated scaler which switches my sources. As with all new products, there have been a few minor bugs. As has been my experience in the past, Alastair Roxburgh and Steve Holt have been responsive to feedback and are working on fixes. The problems have been:(1) The gain is down from the Ovation-8 by several db in a couple of formats. For most, this will be no problem at all.but it has been a bit of a problem for me.because my Innersound 800W monoblocks are fairly low in gain.and my Martin Logan CLS IIz's are pretty low in sensitivity. I understand that the next software update addresses this and adds back some gain.(2) There are a couple of minor software programming glitches.

I use a somewhat unorthodox setup with only a single rear surround speaker in the center (6.1). The TM8800pro can handle this setup perfectly.but in the software, the L and R rear channels were reversed.so the programming sequence for this mode would not work perfectly.

I found a temporary fix until the new software is released.(3) When the TM8800pro locks a DD EX signal.it seems not to allow a downmix to Stereo. With the Ovation-8 or TM8000 pro.I could then hit the Stereo button.and it would downmix to Stereo. This was convenient for headphone listening of 5.1 material. I understand that this will be corrected in the next software update. Those are the main things. Despite the expectable glitches from a new product.i can't say enough good about the folks at EAD and their products.

Frankly, I could have chosen lots of other A/V receivers.but I know I made the right choice. If sonics are your 'thing' as they are mine, I'd recommend the EAD over Krell, Meridian and just about everything else I listened to.If any specific questions, feel free to email me at.Harry.

Harry, I agree the 8800-Pro's 2-channel sonics are very very good, and I am surprised at how pleased I am with it. As mcw120 states above, I too find it extremely transparent & dyanmcie, and toanlly well balanced. I have no problem now selling my mod'd Sim Audio Eclipse CDP.I have mucho gain for 2-channel inputs, both digital & analog. My Waveform speakers are 91db and my Sim Audio Titan amp is 33db.But I do find the HT gain potentially too low as well, so I can readily understand your gain concerns with your speaker and amp combo.I just set it up for my 7.1 HT yesterday and have discovered some major ( for me ) quirks and limitations. My unit was QC'd at the factory on Feb 17 and I have software 2.3b. I will email you in private the email I am sending off to EAD later tonight. Once I get a reply from EAD, I will post back here so others can be informed of the state of affairs with the feature set.- Andy.
